Esthetic rhinoplasty

The surgery of the nose is one of the most frequent interventions in cosmetic surgery. It makes it possible to refine the relief of the nose partially either, or as a whole, thus amending the profile of a face.

The doctor-anesthetist then specifies you all the measures to be taken before the intervention concerning the fuel supply, drinks, the tobacco and the medicamentous captures.

Which type of anesthesia is practiced?
It is about an general anesthesia, sometimes lighter, still called . Usually practiced with the Private clinic Elysium , the anesthesia answers criteria of maximum security.

Which is the duration of the intervention?
The rhinoplasty lasts on average an hour, but that depends of course on the importance of the provided for gesture and thus of its complexity. If there exists a deviation of the associated nasal septum, or a problem mucous, they are discussed in same time.

Will there be visible cicatrices?
No cicatrice is visible since the incision is carried out inside the nostrils.
Sometimes, an small incision is made at the basis of (the partition between the two nostrils), or on the level of the fold if a specific gesture is considered.

How is held the intervention?
The cutaneous coating of the nose is released from subjacent tissues, cartilages and bones.
The surgeon models then the various elements (cartilages, bone,…) according to the pre-established program and according to the result considered (reduction of a bump, refinement of a point, rectification of the point,….)
The skin because of its elasticity then comes to again marry the underlying structures of the nose and to thus give the new relief obtained.

Which type of bandage will be used?
A plaster is implemented to maintain in place the underlying structures of the reorganized nose (one week on average).
Fuses are placed in your nostrils to stabilize the internal structures of the nose (24 to 48 hour on average).

Which is the duration of the hospitalization?
In general, it is short and hard from 24 to 48 hours.

Into post-operative, and especially the first two days, edema and bruises appear on the level of the face, in particular of the lower lids.
It is rare that such an intervention is painful.

On the other hand, it is a little unpleasant to have to breathe by the mouth as long as the fuses are not withdrawn, therefore during the first 48 hours.

The edema and the bruises reabsorb gradually in a few days and an adapted processing is prescribed.

The plaster is withdrawn eight to ten days after the intervention. It still persists at this stage a little edema to the root of the nose which reabsorbs more slowly.

Like any surgical operation, the rhinoplasty can have some rare complications such as: infection, hematoma or an anesthetic complication.

On the esthetic level, it is possible that the post-operative development, cicatricial reaction, or the nature of tissues, do not make it possible to obtain exactly the anticipated result.
A surgical recovery can of this fact being under consideration in the months which follow to obtain a correction which will approach the initial objective as much as possible.

One can thus, later on, refine the point of the nose more or obtain a right line of profile.
The progress made as regards rhinoplasty, and in particular thanks to the opened technique, makes it possible to minimize these disadvantages, and to obtain more precise corrections.

The activity is taken again gradually to become normal at the end of ten to fifteen days. It is necessary to avoid:

• any excessive activity such as jogging, swimming or ill-considered effort during the first fifteen days.
• to expose itself to the sun during four weeks (with the use of a total screen at the beginning).

It should be known that the end result of the rhinoplasty is really appreciable only at the end of a few months.

The final result of an esthetic rhinoplasty is done in general a year after the intervention.

It is the necessary delay so that the cicatricial tissues became ripe.

The result at this stage can be judged like final and there are no developments particular to fear nor long-term complications. The softened tissues, evolve/move then normally in time.
